Façade Engineering

‘Façade Engineering is the art of resolving aesthetic, environmental and structural issues to achieve the enclosure of habitable space.’ - www.FacadeEngineeringSociety.org

The façade or exterior envelope of a building is the element that makes the internal space habitable, it acts as a filter allowing in beneficial elements of the external climate in whilst providing a barrier to those less desirable elements. It is often considered to be the highest risk of any project.

Legislation and Codes set out minimum performance criteria which projects must achieve. This performance criteria is now driven by the need to reduce carbon emissions and improve building energy efficiencies.

Successful projects depend on a high degree of collaboration across the design team and throughout the supply chain. However, construction contracts often isolate packages of work, the success of the façade depends on careful co-ordination of these various specialised trades.

Through the application of highly specialised skills the Consultant Façade Engineer will co-ordinate the various technological demands of the building envelope to meet the required design criteria. This role can often make the difference between a successful project and a less such successful project.

Wintech Consultant Façade Engineers are trained to a minimum standard of MSc in Façade Engineering with Fellow (FSFE) or Member (MSFE) status of the Society of Façade Engineers. Wintech is uniquely positioned with our own internal design, structural, thermal analysis, consultancy and testing resource to make your project successful.
